Who we are
GharGenie is operated by GharGenie Technologies Private Limited, Madhapur, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here.
Questions, access requests or complaints: support@ghargenie.com.
Grievance Officer (Information Technology Rules, 2021): Mr Shyam,
shyam@ghargenie.com. We acknowledge a grievance within
24 hours and resolve it within 15 days.
1. The GharGenie app — households
What we collect
- Account: your phone number, verified by one-time password, and your name if you give it.
- Your home: the service address, the appliances you add, warranty and service dates.
- Bookings and orders: what you booked, when, the price, who was assigned, invoices.
- What you tell us about a problem: text you type, photographs of a fault, and voice recordings. Photographs and recordings are optional — typing always works instead.
- Location: approximate location to match you to professionals serving your area, and precise location only while a booking is active and only with your permission, to show your professional arriving and to confirm check-in at your door. We never collect location in the background.
- Kitchen preferences: dietary preferences and allergies you enter, used to build your menu plan.
Why
To create your account, match you with a professional, show a price band before you book, let you track a visit, deliver an order, respect an allergy, handle support and refunds, detect fraud, and meet legal and tax obligations.
Who we share it with
- The professional assigned to your booking — your name, phone number and service address, so they can reach you and arrive. Nothing else.
- The store or vendor fulfilling an order — the items, the delivery address and the handover code.
2. GharGenie Partner — professionals, vendors and delivery partners
What we collect
- Account and application: phone number, name, the language you work in, your service area, the trades you work in, your address and a pin for where you work.
- Identity verification: the details returned by a DigiLocker lookup of a government ID you choose to share, and a liveness selfie used to confirm a real person is applying and that the same person is not already registered under another name. We do not store your Aadhaar number.
- Documents you upload: certificates, premises photographs and any evidence your track requires.
- Payout details: the bank account we pay you into, and the result of a penny-drop check that it is yours.
- Work: jobs accepted and completed, check-ins, times, ratings, and the amounts in each payout.
- Location: approximate location to offer you work nearby, and precise location while a job is active — for check-in at the address and, on a delivery, to show the customer where their order is.
Why
To let you join and be verified, offer you work, pay you and show exactly how a payout was calculated, resolve disputes, keep households and partners safe, prevent the same person applying twice, and meet legal, tax and labour obligations.
Who we share it with
- The household whose job you accept — your name, photo and phone number, and your live position while you are on the way.
- Verification and payment providers — identity lookup, face de-duplication, bank verification, background checks, and the partner that moves money to your account.
Who can see your documents inside GharGenie
Access is restricted to staff who need it, every view of a document is logged with a reason, and views default to masked. Documents carry a deletion date set when they are stored and are removed on that date.
You are never charged to be verified.
3. GharGenie Guard — society gates
- From the guard using the app: the phone number registered for the gate, the passes scanned, and the allow or deny decisions recorded.
- The camera is used only to read a pass. Frames are processed on the device to decode the code; we do not upload or store photographs or video from the gate.
- About the worker being verified: when a pass is scanned the app shows that worker's name, verification tier, the date their check was last refreshed, and the flat they are going to, and records the entry. That information belongs to the worker and the household employing them; the society sees it for gate control, at the moment of entry. Workers are told what a gate pass shows before one is issued.
4. What we never do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and the apps carry no advertising or analytics SDKs.
- We do not collect your contacts, SMS, call log, or the other apps on your device.
5. How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Account, home and work profile | While your account exists |
| Photographs and voice notes attached to a diagnosis | 90 days after the job closes |
| Partner identity and verification documents | Until the deletion date set when stored, and no longer than the law requires |
| Invoices, payouts and tax records | 8 years, as tax law requires |
| Society gate entries | 12 months, so a society can audit its own gate |
6. Your choices
- Withdraw a permission. Camera, microphone and location can each be turned off in Android settings. The apps keep working; some onboarding steps cannot be completed without them.
- Delete your account. See Delete your account for how to ask and what happens. We remove or irreversibly anonymise your data except the records the law requires us to keep.
- Access or correct your data. Write to support@ghargenie.com from your registered number's email, or ask from inside the app.
- Complain. To the Grievance Officer above, and to the Data Protection Board of India if we do not resolve it.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Sessions are held in the device's encrypted storage. Uploaded documents are stored under opaque keys rather than guessable paths, access is least-privilege, and sensitive reads are logged.
8. Children
GharGenie is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
Any change is posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes are also notified in the app.
